Political Movements Abound. The Tea Party, and Now The Coffee Party. I’m Going to Start The Birthday Party.

It sounds like a debacle really,
but this is how it’s supposed to work,

well it’s how it’s supposed to work
in America, I cannot speak for other
countries,

Back to my point.

The Second Amendment,
the right to bear arms ,is not
just there so we can be a nation
of gun loving psychopaths,
it is a deterrent to undemocratic
practices in government.
It is means of last resort to change
the government by force if necessary.

I do not own a gun, however,
I do believe in The Second Amendment.

I consider my position to be fair and reasonable,
a lot of people do not, that is the nature of politics.

Once again,
I will return to my point.

The Tea Party

it’s getting a little wacky for my tastes.
Actually, once the name “tea baggers”
started sticking, I stopped listening.
I hope we have a learned the importance
of checking the urban dictionary for definitions
before picking a nickname for our party members.

The Coffee Party
“Born on Facebook just six weeks ago,
the group boasts more than 110,000 fans,
as of Friday morning”,
according to CNN.

One might think that impressive,
until you compare it to the group
“**WORKING**
Sorority Life Super
BROWNIE HACK CHEAT SHEET
Fast Adds, Tips!”
which has 130,423 fans,
or the extremely popular
“Cowbell” group which sports
a very impressive 387,146 fans.

According to the Coffee Party website:

Coffee Party USA is made up of people acting independently of political parties, of corporations, and of political lobbying networks. To this point, all products created and hours logged for Coffee Party have been carried out in the spirit of volunteerism. In the coming months and years, we hope to transform our disappointment in our current political system into a force that will return our nation to a course of popular governance, of the People by the People for the People.

when was this golden age of politics?
I don’t seem to be able to find the Utopian
period in American political history.

All that being said,
I applaud their efforts,
This is how democracy works.

I’ve read their information,
but the Coffee Party is not for me.

In keeping with the spirit of Democracy,
I am forming,The Birthday Party.

The problem with both of the above groups
is caffeine inspired politics.
I propose sugar buzz based debates,
with all the energy of a four year old’s
birthday party.
Total chaos for a few hours and then
the buzz wears off and everybody takes a nap.

I truly believe this is the best way to go.

I don’t have any actual position or views
yet, but what I do have is a catchy slogan,

Let Them Eat Cake!

Fannie Mae and health care reform

I was thinking about health care and all.
I do see merit to the arguments on both sides.
I am a believer in free markets
and fear that additional government involvement
in the insurance industry will manifest into another
Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac type situation.

Fannie Mae, the largest U.S. mortgage-finance company,
has posted $120.5 billion in net losses in the nine quarters
ended in September and requested $59.9 billion in Treasury aid.
Bank Of America was not the only one bailed out.

What in the world does this have to do with health care?

It could be suggested that one of the largest contributing
factors to the banking debacle has been the government
artificially influencing the lending markets through Freddie Mac/ Fannie Mae.
I fear a similar effect by the current health care reform proposal.

I don’t have the answer though.

These are just my thoughts,
do not interpret them as being “Republican”
or that I am against Obama.

I support President Obama,
and especially Joe Biden, I love that guy.

I am for America.

"Hello, Leroy Scandal? Hey it's Obama, so what did you think of the State of The Union Address?"

Hello B,
Yeah, I tuned in.
Sure, I’ll give you some feedback.
First off, I didn’t like the tie,
that red didn’t really match the red
in the flag, and you don’t really want
to dress to match what’s on the wall
anyway, come on now.
I liked that you came out strong on Jobs,
with a clear course of action.
I like that you explained the bank bailouts,
and how you planned to proceed and use
some of the money to encourage job growth.
I was really jazzed when you said you were
going to invoke an executive order for that
bipartisan fiscal committee thing that got
shot down in congress.
America wants a leader, we need strong
right now.
Good on you for calling out the Supreme Court,
I am not sure I agree with your position,
but I fully support you in making your opinion known.
I do agree with you about fighting between the
parties, as I have told you many times before,
we need everyone working together.
When I told the monkeygirl that you said
there would be consequences and repercussions
for Iran, she was really jazzed too.
Now you know you and I still don’t agree
on the best way to proceed on health care reform,
but I think you handled it well by asking if anyone
had a better way, I will be submitting my proposal
to you soon.

Obama,
great job last night,
I give you two thumbs up.

Don't worry, I will be covering The State of The Union address.

Tonight,
I will watch the President speak,
and then me and Jeff with go
to The Pink Pony and get initial
reactions from a couple of really
hot strippers we know.
I’m not allowed to take my camera
in the pink pony anymore after
that last incident, so photographs
of their reactions will not be included.

You demand a recount, I demand counters that can count properly the first time.

Last month, the city of Atlanta had
a Mayoral election between
Kasim Reed and Mary Norwood.
Most of the press coverage regarding
the elected center around the fact
that Mary Norwood was white,
and if she won this would be the first
time since 1973 that Atlanta would
have a white mayor.
Kasim Reed, a former state Senator is
black, he is also the new Mayor as of
yesterday. Congratulations Mayor Reed.

None of the above has anything to do with my point.

Over 84,000 votes were cast in the election.
Kasim Reed won the December 1st election
by 715 votes.
Mary Norwood requested a recount,
as is her right since the the margin
of victory was less than one percent.
After the recount, Mary Norwood was
found to have one more vote, and
Kasim Reed was declare the victor
by a 714 vote margin.
This concerns me.

How is it that we cannot
accurately count votes in an election?

Were the votes only counted once the first time?
Did they give her an extra vote to make her feel better?

Does America really need Congress?

We do need Congress to author
and introduce legislation,
but why can’t the American
people vote directly on the issues?
In the past,
this wasn’t a realistic option,
but now, the technology is
widely available.

Why can’t the American people
represent themselves?

I know my opinion better than anyone else.
I am the best representative for myself,
I would hope you would feel the same way.

Heads up! I am going to start talking about politics and stuff.

I’ve got some ideas,
and I want to bounce
them off the people.
No yelling, no anger,
no party affiliation.
I,
Leroy Scandal,
will be the voice of political reason.

We do not get the benefit of our system when Senators form gangs and the biggest gang wins.

The heath care bill passed the Senate yesterday.
58 Democrats and two independents voted for the bill,
39 Republicans voted against the bill, and one Republican
did not bother to show up for the vote.
So every Democrat thought this bill was a good idea,
and every Republican thought it was a bad idea?
I really find that hard to believe,
in fact I don’t believe it.
I am not arguing for or against the bill,
I am arguing for respect of the process.
We do not get the benefit of our system when
Senators form gangs and the biggest gang wins.
The Senate has done all Americans a great injustice.
They have put their loyalty to their party
before their loyalty to the American people.
This is not what the Founding Fathers intended.

I try to not become overly
concerned with politics.
I try to not let public figures
annoy me.
Sarah Palin annoys me.
Sarah Palin is a perfect example
of why the rest of the world thinks
America is one big Jerry Springer show.
Please don’t humor Sarah Palin,
or she’ll never go away.
